This Doctor is our family's favourite! He listens, makes good eye contact. He is approachable, friendly and kind, confident and has an air of authority. My son is Deaf & struggles with anxiety. He trusts this Doctor. My son has been a patient at GOSH for years and hates injections, but will have them from this Dr because he is confident and they don't hurt, he feels safe. He's like the well loved family Doctor this country used to pride themselves on.

The care we receive, as a family from Dr. McGilligan is first rate. He is a good listener, thoughtful, knowledgeable, professional, decisive and thorough. I trust him completely and he has helped us through some difficult times. Things are much improved now that we are back under the system of having one family doctor, with whom we have a history. This means that he 'knows us' (to some degree) which is helpful factor in detecting whether we are well or ill? Also - I would rather wait a week for an appointment to see our same doctor each time than have an immediate appointment with a completely different doctor every time - that is in my view illogical and creates more doubts about the service provided in the minds of the individual patient. Consistency is a good thing from my point of view. It's good that this system has reverted back to a 'doctor and his patients'. I hope that lesson has been learned - I have no problem re-adopting old ideas - if they are good ideas, they are good, end of story. So our family is well looked after. Very happy thanks.

I always try and see Dr McGilligan as I honestly feel like he genuinely cares about each and everyone of his patients. He is currently treating my warts and verucas by burning them off and as I have ulcerative colitis and a weak immune system due to prolonged use of steroids, they constantly come back. Dr McGilligan never makes me feel like a nuisance or un welcome. He has successfully treated my warts and still working on my verruca. He also gives me advice on my illness and listens to my concerns and worries. He always makes me smile even when my treatment is painful! He is by far the best thing about Grey Stone Surgery. Excellent patient skills and genuine care.

This is one great doctor. I have been seeing Joe McGilligan for several years now and have never had reason to fault him. He is patient, considerate and caring as well as being extremely professional. I have recently consulted him regarding a heart matter and the associated anxiety this has bought on. He promptly arranged an ECG and blood test and when the results were through he explained to me in layman's terms and, not at all patronisingly, the possible causes and effects of the problem and he dispensed not only medication but sound advice about how I should proceed. I felt better on leaving his surgery and I hadn't taken a single pill! He has always taken the time to reassure me and settle any doubts I have had regarding my health. Oh, if only there were more like him. I know he also does a lot of charity projects and wonder, sometimes, how he fits it all in and still have time for his patients.
